Cooking Instructions
  • 1

Knead green food coloring into the cookie dough. Then flatten the dough into a disk and wrap it tightly in plastic. Chill the dough until firm.

  • 2

Heat the oven. Working on a flour-dusted sheet of wax paper, roll out the chilled dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut heart shapes from the dough. Bake the cookies according to the recipe directions and then let them cool completely.

  • 3

Meanwhile, make a batch of cookie glaze by stirring together the confectioner's sugar, milk, and corn syrup in a small mixing bowl. If it's not fluid enough to spread with a pastry brush, stir in a little more milk.

  • 4

Working with one cookie at a time, brush the top with glaze. Then, if you want to add a shimmery effect, dip the tip of a small dry paintbrush in gold luster dust, hold it over the cookie, and tap the paintbrush handle to dust the glaze before it sets up.

  • 5

Now use the white decorating candies to adorn the glazed tops with mini flowers and other designs. If the glaze hardens before you finish, use the tip of a toothpick to apply more in the spots you'd like to stick the candies.
