This Mom’s Disney Cakes Are Truly Made With Magic

We’re a sucker for a decadent Disney dessert, which is why we can’t stop dreaming about these stunning Disney-inspired cakes!

With some faith, trust, and pixie dust, mom-of-five Amy Droubay has transformed everyday confectionaries into the stuff dreams are made of. We caught up with the Disney cake maker to learn about her inspiration for these beautiful desserts.

“I first started making cakes about six months ago. A coworker of my husband’s asked if I would make a Minnie Mouse cake for her daughter’s birthday,” Droubay tells Disney Family. “That was one of my very first cake orders and it was a huge hit on Instagram.”

That’s pretty much the understatement of the year—her first Disney cake post currently has 16.4K views on Instagram. This mom was also inspired by her yearly trip to Disneyland noting:

“I had this idea to do a Disney cake series to help countdown to our trip. My kids helped me brainstorm some ideas and I spent about two weeks baking and decorating all the cakes.”

How fun! Droubay was able to get all her kiddos—ranging in ages from 5 to 19—involved in her homemade Disney magic. She created cakes inspired by Daisy, The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins, Tinker Bell…the list goes on! And she truly did not disappoint.

Droubay posts her cake creations in the form of time lapse videos that let her followers and fellow Disney fanatics see how she decorates each confectionary from start to finish. She explains what makes it so rewarding, “…as I’m putting the final touches on and it actually comes together like I imagined in my head—that is just the most satisfying feeling in the world!”

We can see why! The details in these desserts are truly spectacular—you’d think Fairy Godmother herself had a part in their creation! And with so many beautiful designs, it’s hard to pick a favorite. But Droubay has hers!

“My favorite cake, hands down, was the vintage black and white Mickey Mouse cake. Ever since I made my Minnie Mouse cake and it was such a huge hit, I’ve been thinking how I would want to portray a Mickey Mouse cake,” she explains.

“I came across this beautiful black and white statue figurine that I fell in love with and it was my inspiration for the classic, vintage Mickey Mouse cake. The hand-piping I did of the music notes around the cake is actually the song from Disneyland’s Main Street electrical Parade,” the cake master gushes.

Yes. She went so far as to get the actual music notes from the parade and put them ON A CAKE. Does it get more magical than this? Actually, yes, it might. After Droubay’s Disney cake series blew up on Instagram, she realized this was something she could leverage to generate funding for charities.

So, this hardworking mom is making it happen. Droubay says:

“For the entire month of March, I will be auctioning off cakes for a multiple sclerosis charity. My husband was diagnosed with MS about three and a half years ago so this is an important cause for me, and March is Multiple Sclerosis Awareness month.”

We are truly in awe of this wonderful woman and her breathtaking Disney cakes. Keep making magic, Amy!
