If you love Disney•Pixar as much as I do, you and your family won’t want to miss Pixar Fest. It’s a celebration of the beloved animated films, running through September 3 at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.
The best part of the entire event would have to be the treats. The delightfully creative cuisine was out of this world!
From Toy Story‘s Cheeseburger Pizza to Up‘s Fried Bologna Sandwich, there’s a wide array of snacks, entrees, desserts, and beverages—each one as fun and imaginative as the films my family and I love to watch, over and over again.
In Tomorrowland, the Aliens have landed and turned Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port into Alien Pizza Planet, adding several new pizzas to the menu. This is also where I enjoyed two of my favorite Pixar Fest treats: the Alien Macarons, which are almost too adorable to eat, and the Blackberry-Lime Parfaits, brilliantly colored creations that I can’t wait to share with my family on our next visit.
Another must-see is Paradise Garden Grill, where you’ll find a variety of new dishes inspired by Coco. My personal favorite would have to be the Tortitas de Papa con Queso—crispy potato cakes with Oaxaca cheese, golden rice, ranchero salsa, and a pickled onion salad.
If you’re in the mood for something sweet, there is no shortage of options. Disneyland has brought their dessert game to a whole new level with a multitude of charming and delicious Pixar-themed confections. Whether you’re hungry for a Monsters, Inc. Marshmallow Donut from Schmoozies in Disney California Adventure or a cloud of orange-vanilla Finding Nemo Cotton Candy found at outdoor carts and kiosks, there’s a Pixar dessert for you.
For my family, churros are a major Disney snack tradition. So, you can only imagine my excitement when I heard that Pixar Fest has added six new churro flavors to the menu. My kids and I cannot wait to go on a churro hunt and sample them all, but we are especially excited to stop by Frontierland to taste the Cocoa Churro. This Coco-inspired treat has the rich, complex flavor of Mexican chocolate, is topped with chocolate and vanilla bean dust and salted cinnamon sugar, and served with a spiced, Mexican chocolate dipping sauce.
Are you drooling yet?
Of course, an event as big as Pixar Fest demands a truly amazing cake. The Pixar Fest Celebration Cake, adorned with a chocolate rendition of the iconic Pixar Ball, is just as grand and decadent as its name suggests. One slice includes layers of lemon, blue vanilla, and red velvet sponge cake, raspberry puree, and decadent cream cheese frosting. YUM!
While I found plenty of new favorites while sampling the special Pixar menu, this cake tops the list. Stop by Disneyland’s Plaza Inn or Disney California Adventure’s Pacific Wharf Cafe and Paradise Garden Grill to try a slice (or three). And if you just don’t have room for a whole slice, the Luxo Ball Cake Pop is a perfect way to celebrate Pixar Fest in one tasty, petite bite. Too cute!
This is just a small sampling of the many delicious offerings on the Pixar Fest menu. Head on over to Disneyland Resort to check out more of the fun Pixar-themed food and find your favorites.
