Whether you’re heading to the west coast on a much-needed vacation at the Parks or embarking on a staycation, I have the best tip for you: stay at a hotel on the property. It will save you time and energy, and provide an extra special experience your family will never forget!
One of my favorite picks? Disney’s newly renovated Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, which has its own private entrance to Disney California Adventure Park. It’s stunning! From the beautiful hardwood floors to the Arts and Crafts design, it gives off a luxurious yet warm and fuzzy feel.
I’ve put together a few family-friendly tips and tricks to make the most of your stay at the hotel.
Keep Your Kiddos Entertained
The six-story lobby always has activities available for the kids. They can enjoy a classic Disney feature in comfy, child-size chairs and rockers while you get checked in for your stay. Brilliant!
Take Advantage of the Extra Magic Hour
What is an “Extra Magic Hour” you ask? Guests of the hotel who have Parks tickets can enjoy an extra hour of fun, meaning you get access to Disneyland or Disney California Adventure (depending on the day) 60 minutes before the public. It’s amazing! We walked onto our favorite rides and were able to ride them multiple times without a wait! The convenience is one-of-a-kind—nothing beats being able to take a quick walk back to your hotel after a long day on your feet at the Parks.
Grab a Quick Bite at Whitewater Snacks
If your kids are anything like mine, they can’t wait to get back to the fun! Whitewater Snacks is a great spot for counter service food for your early morning Extra Magic Hour breakfast needs, a late-night pizza to go on your way back to your room, or even an afternoon snack to refuel for the rest of your day. Parenting perfection!
Make Reservations at Storytellers
For a fun and kid-friendly meal, you HAVE to visit Storytellers Cafe in the Hearthstone Lounge. Complete with character dining and food for the whole family, it’s truly fun for everyone in your party. The kids LOVED seeing the characters and getting special time to visit with them.
Take the Shortcut!
Not only do you get easy access to Disney California Adventure, there is also a private entrance from the hotel that drops you right into Downtown Disney, which is a short walk to both the Park entrances.
I can’t say enough about the convenience of the location and all the available amenities. The kids had so much fun “waking up at Disneyland” and getting a VIP experience by taking advantage of the Magic Hour. If you’re planning a Disney trip, the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is a must!
