My family and I recently set sail for Disney Cruise Line’s “Marvel Day at Sea” and we had a fantastic time!
I don’t claim to be the biggest Marvel fan out there by any means—seeing all the super fans on the ship made me feel unworthy of this magical day. But by the end of the day, I made a goal to BECOME the biggest Marvel fan there ever was. The experience was that inspiring.
We started the morning with a special meet and greet with Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Iron Man. My daughter Goldie chose to wear her “Swan Girl” outfit to channel her inner superhero, we decided that her super power was swimming at lightning speed.
It melted my heart to see how inspiring the Marvel characters were with Swan Girl. This was her first time meeting them and now she can’t wait to go back to Disneyland to see them. If your kids are Marvel fans, they’re going to love Marvel Day at Sea aboard the Disney Magic.
As we were leaving the room, Thor walked down the hallway. Do you know how exciting it is for kids to see their heroes just casually walk by them? The fact that these characters were roaming around the ship was extremely special special—it makes the kids feel like they were living along side them. The iconic Marvel score that was playing in the ships speakers on every deck made my kids feel like they were in the middle of an epic story (and so did I!). My kiddos were striking Hulk poses all day long.
Little details are what make Disney cruises really stand out from the rest. The ship’s daily schedule was Marvel-themed and we were left a Marvel flag in our stateroom. There were banners everywhere on the ship and the Spider-Man animated television series playing on the massive poolside screen. The snacks on the pool deck had adorable Marvel paper added for the day and at dinner, the Marvel-themed menus were big comic books!
And that’s not all. The ship’s movie theater played Black Panther, Thor: Ragnarok, and Guardians of the Galaxy all day. All around the ship were opportunities to delve deeper into the Marvel Universe with trivia and quiz shows. Disney’s Oceaneer Club for kids had a full day of activities including Marvel Super Hero Academy! We were really treated to complete immersion into this epic world.
There were also two nighttime shows. The first was adorable for the younger kids and included Mickey and Friends dressed as their favorite Marvel heroes for a big dance party. My kids LOVED it.
My little superheroes may have fallen asleep for the finale show, but I was in absolute awe at how amazing it was! All of the Marvel heroes had to band together to save the ship from the villains. Red Skull ran right past me and gave me a nice fright! There were live and pre-filmed elements that really gave us the feeling that all of this was actually happening. The conclusion of the night was an insane fireworks show. The older kids will be LIVING for this show. SO MUCH FUN.
Marvel Day at Sea will return in January 2019 on Disney cruises sailing from Miami, Florida, and you do not want to miss it!
