Help Your Little One Celebrate Mickey’s Birthday with Some DIY Disney Mail

Our favorite Disney character is having a big birthday—which calls for a major celebration! We’re preparing for the special day by sending some magic mail.

We’re creating a Mickey Postcard, Pop-Up Card, Pop-Up Gift Box, and (most importantly) Party Hats. The fellow Mickey fans will truly appreciate receiving these crafts to kick off their own festivities!

DIY Mickey Postcard

Who wouldn’t want to find a little piece of Disney magic in their mailbox? Help your kiddo create these fun postcards and send them off to their BFFs.



  1. Trace the wood onto scrapbook paper. Carefully cut it out.
  2. Glue the scrapbook paper to one side of the wood.
  3. Download and print the Mickey art. Carefully cut out your favorite designs.
  4. Add them to the postcard using the glue stick.
  5. Trim any overlapping edges, then seal it with a light coat of decoupage glue.
  6. Use an alphabet stamp set to add your message.
  7. Address, add a postage stamp, and send your magic mail!

DIY Mickey Pop-Up Card

Whether your little one wants to make Mickey a birthday card or is looking to create something memorable for a family member, this DIY pop-up card is just what you’re looking for.


  • Patterned paper
  • Glue stick
  • Printable Mickey template
  • White cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Tissue paper honeycombs
  • Hot glue
  • Craft paper
  • Silver marker
  • Washi tape


  1. Fold patterned paper in half with the pattern facing out. Apply a glue stick to the inside of the fold. Press together.
  2. Fold the patterned paper in half once more. Download and cut out the Mickey template.
  3. Use the larger circle of the Mickey template as a guide to trim the honeycomb. Use the smaller circles of the Mickey template to cut ears out of the craft paper in colors that correspond to the honeycomb.
  4. Hot glue the honeycomb circle into the center of the card crease. Hot glue the corresponding ears on either side of the honeycomb.
  5. Fold each edge of the card inward. Cut ovals from the honeycomb to create balloon shapes. Hot glue these into the creases of the card.
  6. Cut out additional balloons from colorful craft paper. Glue them into place around the honeycombs.
  7. Use a silver marker to draw the balloon strings. Then fold the card shut and seal with tape.
  8. Add a postage stamp and send your magic mail!

DIY Mickey Pop-Up Gift Box

Take your gift-giving to the next level with this adorable pop-up gift box. The fun “Oh, Boy!” message will excite anyone who opens it!


  • Matchbox
  • Patterned paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Spring
  • Hot glue
  • Stapler
  • Printable Mickey template
  • White cardstock
  • Letter stickers
  • Washi tape


  1. Trace the matchbox onto patterned paper to cover it completely. Carefully cut out and hot glue the paper to the outside of the matchbox. Trim any excess.
  2. Cut out a rectangle of patterned paper to line the inside of the box.
  3. Attach the spring to the patterned paper with hot glue.
  4. Place the paper into the matchbox.
  5. Cut a smaller rectangle of patterned paper. Accordion fold and staple it in the center. Hot glue the edges to create a pinwheel.
  6. Use the smallest Mickey template to cut out a red shape.
  7. Use the letter stickers to spell out, “Oh, Boy!”
  8. Hot glue the Mickey shape to the center of the pinwheel. Hot glue the pinwheel to the spring.
  9. Press the pinwheel down into the box and close it. Then seal it with tape.
  10. Add a postage stamp and send your magic mail!

DIY Mickey Party Hats

These easy-to-create hats can be sent in a tube to anyone looking to have their own Mickey-themed celebration.



  1. Download, print, and cut out the party hat template. Trace it onto gray craft paper and cut it out.
  2. Repeat with blue and red paper.
  3. Build the party hats and fasten with hot glue.
  4. Download and cut out the Mickey template. Trace the ears onto black craft foam and cut them out.
  5. Hot glue the ears to each party hat.
  6. To create the Steamboat Willie hat, cut a badge from white paper, a hat rim from gray paper, and the top of the hat from black craft foam. Hot glue these pieces onto the gray hat.
  7. To create the bandleader Mickey hat, cut out details from white and gold paper. Then hot glue them to the red hat.
  8. To create the Sorcerer Mickey hat, cut out star and moon shapes from white paper. Hot glue them to the blue hat.
  9. Thread the needle with string and pull it through each hat, evenly spacing them.
  10. Attach the string to the lid of the mailing tube with tape. Then place the hats into the tube.
  11. Add a postage stamp and send your magic mail!


All cutting and hot gluing should be done by an adult.
