A big event in every toddler’s life is quickly coming to our household: starting school. Not only is this a huge step for my 3-year-old daughter Amelia, but it’s also a transition for me as her mom!
I just can’t believe how fast she’s growing up and that it’s almost time for her to start preschool. To celebrate this momentous occasion as mother and daughter, we decided to have a special day at the Disney Store where Amelia could pick out all her preschool necessities. What could be more fun than a mother-daughter back-to-school shopping trip?
Amelia has a few older friends who already attend school, and she’s always admired one of their accessories: a backpack! I’ll admit, it’s pretty cool to have a bag of your own with one of your favorite Disney characters on it that also carries all of your treasures. So, what was Amelia’s first shopping task? A backpack, of course. The store had so many to choose from—between Marvel, Star Wars, Minnie Mouse, and beyond—so Amelia had quite the decision to make.
She was immediately drawn to the Snow White backpack. “Snow White is one of my favorites! She likes animals like me,” Amelia squealed.
Right after selecting a backpack, Amelia looked a little to her left and exclaimed, “Oh! A lunch box, I need a lunch box! It matches.” She loved that the shop carried lunch boxes that not only matched the backpacks but also fastened on for easy toting.
Next, my little student-to-be needed a water bottle of her own to take to class for days of busy playtime and learning. She wanted to stick with the Disney Princess theme, so she selected one with many princesses displayed on it. “Wow! Mulan! And, and, and…..BELLE!” Amelia excitedly noted.
The last preschool necessity? An adorable back-to-school outfit. Amelia loves putting together a perfectly coordinated ensemble, so it was no shock when she picked an Animators’ Collection Disney Princess dress that came with a red knit sweater. It paired so nicely with her Snow White backpack and lunch box.
When you remove the sweater, the dress has short sleeves that make for a perfect transition from cooler mornings to warmer afternoons. She, without a doubt, felt like a princess with her preschool goodies and dress, which she loved since, “it twirls!”
This special mother-daughter shopping trip was a wonderful way to commemorate her new journey as a big girl!
