Sofia the First-Inspired Easter Eggs

Sofia the First’s flower motif is so pretty on purple Easter eggs. It’s easy to make with some painter’s tape used as a resist before dying the eggs purple.

Time: 25 minutes

What You’ll Need

  • Hard-boiled eggs
  • Painter’s tape
  • 1 cup Hot tap water
  • 2 tsp. distilled white vinegar
  • Purple food dye (or Easter egg dye tablets)
  • Styrofoam
  • Pins

How To Make It

  1. For each egg, draw four teardrops and four curved triangles onto painter’s tape.
  2. Cut out the shapes and arrange them into the Sofia the First flower motif onto the cool, dry hardboiled egg.
  3. Set up a drying rack by pushing pins into Styrofoam in a grid.
  4. Combine in a non-reactive mug or bowl: 1 cup hot tap water, 2 tsp. vinegar, purple food dye (liquid food dye = about 20 drops; concentrated gel food dye = 2 dips of a toothpick; Easter egg dye = 1 tablet). Mix with a plastic spoon until all dye is absorbed.

Dip eggs, one at a time, into purple dye bath until desired shade of purple is reached. Dry on pins.
