Ducky & Bunny Candy Apples
- 1 small apple
- 1 large apple
- 1 package of 12 oz yellow candy melts, melted
- 1 package of 12 oz blue candy melts, melted
- 1 package of unsweetened, desiccated coconut
- Food coloring (yellow & blue)
- 1/4 cup black candy melts, melted
- 2 white candy melts, unmelted
- Yellow cotton candy
- 2 orange candy melts, unmelted
- Chewy candies in pink, purple & mint green
- 1/4 cup white candy melts, melted
- 1 dark blue jelly bean
- 1 white Jordan almond
- 1 piece angel hair pasta, uncooked
- 4 mini confetti sprinkles
- 2 candy apple sticks
- 3 sizes of small round cutters
Wash & dry the apples well. To create the right shape for their faces, turn the apples upside down, then insert a candy apple stick in the bottom center of each apple.
Dip the small apple in melted yellow candy melts & the large apple in melted blue candy melts. Let any excess coating drip off the apples.
Coat the yellow apple in desiccated coconut, tinted with yellow food coloring. Coat the larger apple in coconut tinted with blue food coloring.
For Ducky’s eyeball, use the flat side of 2 white candy melts. For the pink part of his eye, roll a chewy candy flat, then use a small round cutter to cut out 2 rounds. Use a toothpick to draw the black part of Ducky’s eyes from black candy melts. While still setting, place the white eyeball rounds atop the black melts. Attach one white confetti sprinkle to each eye as a reflection dot. Make Ducky’s bill with 2 orange candy melts, flat sides against each other. Create his head feathers out of yellow cotton candy.
For Bunny’s eyeball, spread 2 spoonfuls of white candy melts on a piece of parchment in a thick layer. Allow to just set, then use a small round cutter to cut out the shape of his eyeballs. For the purple part of his eye, roll a chewy candy flat, then use a small round cutter to cut out 2 rounds. Use a toothpick to draw Bunny’s eyelids using black candy melts. While still setting, place the white eyeball rounds atop the black candy melts. Attach one white confetti sprinkle to each eye as a reflection dot. Use a toothpick to “draw” Bunny’s plastic hook.
Shape the green part of Bunny’s nose/mouth using mint green colored chewy candies. Use a white Jordan almond for his teeth and a blue jelly bean for his nose. Make his whiskers by browning a piece of dry angel hair pasta in a pan over low heat. Remove when lightly browned and break into 1” segments. Dip each piece into white candy melts and allow to dry. Insert 3 whiskers on each side of his mouth.
Flatten and shape the inner part of Bunny’s ears from green chewy candies. Using a serrated knife, cut out the outline of Bunny’s ears from a graham cracker. Dip each ear in blue melts and let any excess drip off. Before the blue melts harden, place the inner ear pieces atop the blue melts, then press blue coconut into the setting blue melts. Place on a sheet of parchment paper and allow to dry completely.
Using leftover candy melts, attach all of Ducky’s features on the small apple & Bunny’s features on the large apple. Enjoy!
