Mickey & Friends Bento Box
- 2 slices of bread, white or whole wheat
- Big and small oval cookie cutters
- Hazelnut spread
- 1 egg
- 3 Tbsps milk
- Pinch of salt
- 2 ramekins
- 1 Tsp sour cream
- Eggplant skin
- 1 apple
- 1 peach or mango
- Chocolate vanilla cream cookies
- 5 Tbsps confectioners’ sugar
- Green, beige, and black gel food coloring
- Several broccoli florets
All cutting should be done by an adult.
MICKEY & MINNIE TOAST: Cut out Tsum Tsum shapes with oval cookie cutters. Use a big cookie cutter for the face and a smaller one for their ears.
Spread the hazelnut spread onto their ears, then create Mickey and Minnie’s face details with the spread and toothpicks. Microwave some of the spread in a small bowl to make it easier to use. Stick the ears onto the faces with the spread. Set aside.
PLUTO EGG CUP: Preheat oven to 300° F. Whisk the egg, milk, and salt in a small bowl. Pour into 2 small ramekins that have been oiled and bake for 15 minutes.
Let the egg cups cool before releasing the egg from the cups. Cut a small round of egg from the second cup to make Pluto’s snout. Use sour cream and a toothpick to create the whites of his eyes. Cut out ears, eyes, and nose with eggplant skin and scissors.
DONALD & DAISY FRUIT: Cut out apple rounds into oval Tsum Tsum shapes. Place a blueberry on top of an apple for Donald’s hat, strawberries for Daisy’s bow, peach or mango pieces for their beaks, and blueberry skin for their eyes, using scissors.
GOOFY COOKIE: Twist a cookie apart and cut the edges of 1 to create Goofy’s ears. Stick them to the side of a full cookie (in between the vanilla cream). Make the icing by mixing together powdered sugar and milk. Then separate the icing into 3 parts either in another bowl or on a plate, and dye each with the different food coloring. Take a smaller piece of cookie and draw on Goofy’s hat with green and black icing. Use white and black icing to draw his eyes, beige for his snout, and black for his nose—all using toothpicks.
Arrange the bento starting with the Mickey & Minnie toasts, then place Donald and Daisy on a bed of strawberries and blueberries. The Pluto egg cup can be placed on top of some broccoli florets or any greens of your choice. The Goofy cookie should be placed in a separate container or bag so it doesn’t get soggy. Enjoy!
