I just love this time of year! Between the lights, the scents and sounds, all of the yummy holiday treats, and extra time spent with loved ones—it truly is magical.
I added tsum cuteness to the holidays by baking delicious gingerbread donuts, and turning the donut holes into my favorite Disney couples—Tsum Tsum Mickey and Minnie, and Donald and Daisy.
Seasonal sprinkles and moldable candy helped to get them holiday-ready. And to make them even more festive, I set each character on top of its very own wreath donut decorated with cream cheese frosting. I hope you enjoy making them, and have a very merry holly-day!

Mickey & Friends Tsum Tsum Wreath Donuts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/8 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp molasses
- 2 tbsp whole milk
- 6 tbsp sour cream
- 4 tbsp butter, melted
- Nonstick baking spray
- Donut baking pan
- Donut hole or cake pop baking pan
- Large zip-top bag
- CREAM CHEESE FROSTING:
- 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- Green gel food coloring
- Piping bag and leaf tip
- White, black, and orange candy melts
- Vegetable oil
- Yellow, red, green, and white chewy/taffy candy
- Sprinkles (red heart, round white and red, holly and ivy, snowflake, and gold)
- Small, round cookie cutters or piping tips
- Pink edible marker
Heating candy should be done by an adult.
Preheat oven to 350° F. Spray donut pans with nonstick spray. Set aside.
In a medium size mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, salt, and sugar. In a small mixing bowl, combine the egg, molasses, milk, sour cream, and butter until smooth. Then stir into the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined (you don’t want to over mix).
Transfer the batter to a large zip-top bag, and cut the corner off of the bag. Pipe the batter into 6 donut cavities, and 6 donut hole cavities, filling each about 3/4 full.
Bake each pan for 8-10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the donuts to cool for 5 minutes in the pans before transferring to a cooling rack to cool completely.
You can make the cream cheese while the donuts are cooling. Fit your piping bag with a leaf tip. Place the softened butter and cream cheese in a mixing bowl, and beat for 3 minutes on medium speed.
Add the salt and vanilla, and with the mixer on low, slowly add the powdered sugar, a little at a time (so it doesn’t go flying everywhere).
Once the ingredients are combined, stir in green food coloring. Transfer the frosting to your prepared piping bag. If the frosting is a bit too warm you can place it in the refrigerator to stiffen for about 15 minutes.
Flip the donuts over and decorate with leaves—working in a circular pattern around the donut. Leave the middle of the donut empty for the donut holes.
Decorate the wreaths with holiday sprinkles. Then add bows by heating an unwrapped red taffy candy in the microwave for 5 seconds on a piece of parchment paper. Roll the candy out between two pieces of parchment and cut three strips. Fold each end in on one of the strips, and pinch in the middle to form a bow. Use another strip to wrap around the middle. Divide the third strip in half, and use it as the ribbon ends, placing underneath the bow on each wreath.
Place the wreaths in the refrigerator so the frosting can set while decorating the characters.
Heat the yellow taffy candy in the microwave for 5 seconds. Roll it out between parchment paper, and use a circle cutter to cut two small circles out. Fold these in half and set aside (they will be used for Donald and Daisy’s beaks).
Heat a red taffy candy for 5 seconds, and roll out. Cut a triangle for Mickey’s hat, a beret hat shape for Donald’s hat, and a long straight strip.
Heat a green taffy candy, roll out, and cut two straight strips. One will be for Donald’s scarf, and you can twist the other with the red strip to make Daisy’s scarf.
Heat the white taffy candy, roll out, and use a little on the bottom of Mickey’s Santa hat. You can use a little of this candy to roll into arms for each donut hole. Set all candy pieces aside.
Melt the black candy melts in 30 second intervals, at 50% power, stirring between each set, until fully melted. If it’s still lumpy after heating, you can add vegetable oil (1 teaspoon at a time) until smooth. Use a toothpick to draw four small circles (about 1” in diameter) onto wax paper. These will be Mickey and Minnie’s ears. Dip two of the donut holes into the black melts—twice each. If adding hands, dip the donut then add the hands. Add an ear to each side while the melts are setting.
Once the black melts have set, melt 30 white candy melts and five orange pieces together to make peach. Use a toothpick to draw Mickey and Minnie’s face shapes and hands with the peach colored melts, and fill in. Use black melts to attach Mickey’s Santa hat and Minnie’s bow.
Melt the white candy melts. Dip two of the donuts for Daisy and Donald. If adding hands, dip the donuts once, attach the hands, and dip again to coat. Add the beaks to each. Add Donald’s hat and Daisy’s bow using more melts, if needed, to get the pieces to stick.
Once all of your decorated donuts are set, wrap the scarves around Daisy and Donald, and use a toothpick and the black melts to add eyes to all of them and noses for Mickey and Minnie.
Use the pink marker to draw on a paper towel, and blot onto each character’s face to make blushing cheeks.
Place the donut holes on their wreaths, and you’re ready to admire and enjoy them!
