Mickey Mouse Cake
- 1 box cake mix
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 lb. powdered sugar
- 1 lb. unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Black gel coloring
- Red gel coloring
- Yellow gel coloring
- 1 ball of white fondant
Use other gel coloring combinations to make Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Pluto.
Combine cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil in a large bowl.
Pour cake batter into three 4” cake pans.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20-24 minutes.
To prepare frosting, combine powdered sugar, butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Separate into three bowls. Add black gel coloring to one bowl, red gel coloring to the second bowl, and yellow gel coloring to the third bowl.
Once cooled, remove cakes from each pan and layer on top of each other. Pipe a small amount of white frosting between each layer. Crumb coat entire cake.
Pipe yellow, red, and black frosting around the cake. Use a spatula to texture evenly.
Roll out white fondant. Use a circle cookie cutter to create Mickey’s buttons. Once set, place on the front of the cake.
Top the cake with Mickey ears. Create Mickey ears by cutting out of black construction paper and attaching to a long bamboo skewer.
